Why? Because there is nothing natural for a horse about interacting with humans and letting them sit on their backs…NOTHING. It is as natural for a horse as picking up snakes and spiders is for us! We need a lot of understanding, technique and experience with snakes and spiders to get confident with that, with most of us having zero desire to even do such a thing!
Horses are incredibly gentle and highly trainable creatures that most of the time learn despite how thoughtless of their experience we can be.

A Bad Habit - Taking Responsibility for the Emotions of Others
One of the most important lessons in life and with horses is to not take responsibility for another’s emotions or feelings. Take responsibility and be accountable for your own but thinking you are responsible for others sets you up to be manipulative or manipulated. Either way, you can end up with dysfunctional relationships, conflict because it means you have poor personal boundaries. You need to live your life with integrity and allow others to process their own emotions without feeling responsible and trying to fix them.
