Learn to Solve Problems YOURSELF!

This is Aileen and her lovely horse Ronan. When I met Aileen, Ronan had a very serious bridling and saddling evasion. In fact the saddling evasion was one of the worst I had seen and very dangerous. He also bucked under saddle and was anxious and unpredictable to ride.

Aileen had sent him to a trainer to fix but his problems returned almost immediately and he became even more anxious.

This is not the trainers fault. It is just a fact that when a horse learns an evasion it becomes a habit to a horse and whilst you might be able to stop a habit it can very easily be re-triggered. So paying for someone to fix Ronan didn’t work.

Aileen brought Ronan to me and instead of me fixing him, I taught Aileen how to fix bridling and saddling problems and how to train horses from the ground up.

Here are some photos of Aileen fixing Ronan’s bucking issue....but she didn’t have to deal with any bucking because he doesn’t feel overwhelmed and therefore triggered to buck. That’s because Aileen has done a great job at training Ronan and ensuring he was ready to address cantering under saddle today. He was calm, responsive and confident in his ground work. He has improved out of sight in his balance and body soundness thanks to training, body work and overall health care. She had got him cool with bridling and saddling and his habit of exploding when being saddling has been replaced by standing obediently in a calm relaxed manner. His responses to the reins and leg aids at walk and trot where calm and confident. She then went with him and allowed him to find his balance in canter and made no fuss about how much canter he did. She just focused on the transition. Each transition led to better and better canter.

The smile on Aileen’s face says it all....that’s empowerment, that’s confidence and most importantly...that’s joy! ❤️
