WHAT IS OBVIOUS TO PEOPLE

I am always searching for ways to make a point and to help people see things.

If a person was running into problems making bread, it would make sense to advise them to follow a recipe and learn how to make bread!

However, when people run into problems with a horse, it is not obvious to them to follow a training process and learn how to train a horse and solve problems! Instead, most people think there is obviously something wrong with the horse. That is like blaming the ingredients of the bread for not making bread, when you haven't followed a process for making bread in the first place! Sure, there might be a problem with an ingredient, as a horse that might have a soundness issue, but if you are not following a conscious process even the best ingredients wont work!

Also, it is not going to help you to ask a baker to make bread for you. Same as a trainer, training a horse for you. You need to know how to maintain and progress the training responses. You need to keep making the bread and if you are still clueless of the process you will fall into trouble!

In the horse world there is such an emphasis on learning to "ride" a horse but not learning to "train" a horse. In reality you need to know how to "ride" AND "train" a horse. You need to know how to TEACH a horse how you communicate with them, what you mean, what they need to do, keep them motivated and grow their confidence.

They are not robots. They are not born with buttons on their sides, backs or mouths. You need to teach them what you mean when you put a leg on them or pick up a rein. They don't automatically know!
