This one is for the perfectionists

This one is for the perfectionists...the ones that hate to not feel in control...those that avoid failure like the plague.

Whether you like it or not, you have to go through a stage of being pretty ordinary (if not terrible) before you get good.

You might know this about yourself or maybe you don't. But one thing is for sure, the horse is going to humble you with this lesson whether you like it or not!

Learning can be documented on what is called the "learning curve". The learning curve shows that performance improves with time and practice. The first stage of learning is known as the "struggle stage" because whether you like it or not you start with zero expertise.

The only way out of the struggle stage is time and practice! But some people find this so tough.

They hate being messy, being uncoordinated and not in control.

But guess what....too bad...you have to accept it.

Sorry!

Horses make you "let go" of many things.

You have to let go of thinking you know everything about horses because each one is going to highlight the glitches in your knowledge and skill.

They make you let go of expectations of where you “expect" to be as they make you keep returning and refining the basics.

And they make you let go of thinking you can avoid being messy before you get good!

As the saying goes...

"Horses teach you a lot and most of it has little to do with horses"
