They took us into battle.

The horse is naturally neophobic, that means it has an extreme dislike for the new or unfamiliar - yet we rode them into the horror of war.

The more I work with horses the more they reveal themselves to be the most trainable and gentle animal on the planet.

Their trainability has been both exploited but also misunderstood and underestimated.

If they understand, are motivated and confident they will do incredible things for us - never forget this image.

But also never ever forget, their welfare is our primary responsibility. We must never stop questioning our practices and approaches.

We must be their guardians, the horse has given humans so much.
