Life Lessons Thanks to Ponies ❤

I have recently moved back to my home town. I have not lived here for over 20 years and it weird driving around and seeing places and people and having memories triggered that you havent thought about for so long.

Today, I drove past the showgrounds of my very first show, it was a day I will never forget as I learnt a lot of lessons that day. These photos of me where taken in the same spot over 30 years apart. I don't think the person in the photograph on the right would be me today, if it wasn't for that kid on the left having a bit of tumultuous day that day!

I learnt that dreams come at a price of a lot of sacrifice and struggle.

I learnt that sometimes what you think is going to be fun can sometimes turn out to be scary.

I learnt that sometimes you can feel very out of place, that you are dressed wrong, look wrong and that not knowing what to do is embarrassing.

I learnt that my parents loved me but they were not going to let me not try even though I cried.

I learnt that what can start off as scary gets less scary when you do try and give things a go.

I learnt that equally scruffy, dressed-wrong-friends who also have no idea can make your day very good fun and not fitting in was ok.

I learnt that accomplishing something that wasn't easy was the best feeling in the world.

I also learnt that grey ponies are damn hard to clean and impossible to keep clean...and don't even get me started on white hairs everywhere! 😛

I also don't think there is a horse person out there that doesn't have a long list of meaningful life lessons they have also learnt from horses 🙂
