Horses are incredibly resilient

Horses are incredibly resilient.

See this horse in this photo.

He was once physically broken, in poor condition and scared of everything including touch.

He has endured a hard life.

Today, he is healthy, more confident in the world and has learnt to accept and like touch.

He is like this because his brokenness wasn't seen as a barrier. He wasn't labelled fragile and wrapped in cotton wool.

He is being allowed to heal and set up to learn to navigate a world where he can trust the people in it.

He has not been protected from things that worried him, instead he is exposed in thoughtful ways that allowed him to learn and work out he is safe.

This horse is not looked at as weak, broken and damaged victim. Instead, he is seen as a horse that is overcoming his past and thriving.

Don't trap horses in their past victimhood, set them up to show you their incredible capacity to recover from hardship and transform.
